Here’s the promised follow-up post on the 88Keys Music recording session for the Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special music, including a snippet from the kids choir singing “Christmas Time is Here.”

The Peanuts folks loved them, because I think they maintained the spirit of the original Vince Guaraldi Trio, while updating them with contemporary digital recordings.

88Keys Music is proud to announce work has begun on re-imagining the 1965 Charlie Brown Christmas Special CD by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. These recordings are SO iconic that everyone I talk to that watched and listened to Peanuts from the 60s to the present gives it a big smile. Great jazz and session musicians Trey Henry on bass and Ray Brinker on drums recorded with me at piano.

While visiting my friends Philip Clayton-Thompson and Donna Pizzi at Blackstone Edge Studios in Portland, Oregon, recently, they arranged for Edmund Stone of AllClassical.org to interview me for his Saturday afternoon radio program about movie music entitled “The Score.” The program is now available worldwide online.

 

As Edmund played excerpts from my movie scores, we chatted about the origins of some of them.

 

Edmund’s a very erudite Brit from the North of England, who is very knowledgeable about film scores and composers . I look forward to taking him up on his invitation to join the show again the next time I’m in Portland.
